The Supportive Classroom

The Supportive Classroom curriculum was developed at the University of Vermont. The blog and podcast are used to share the ideas and accomplishments of schools that are implementing the Supportive Classroom. The Core Concepts of Belonging, Trust, Sharing and Respect form the foundation of the curriculum.

The Supportive Classroom manual was developed with the help of a Federal grant from 1997 to 2000. The curriculum was developed by Vermonters (classroom teachers, administrators, students and parents) and piloted in Vermont schools. Since it's development the curriculum has been used in schools across Vermont and has been used with extensive consultative support in eight schools as a part of Vermont's Partnerships in Character Education Pilot Project. This blog is intended to provide a space where teachers, students and their families can share their accomplishments and ideas for implementing the Supportive Classroom.

Thanks.
