As of Friday Sept 9th, the workshops we are planning:
September 20th in Burlington
September 22nd in St. Johnsbury
September 25th in Bennington
Septpmber 27th in Rutland
September 29th in Springfield
are at capacity. There may be a few seats left in Springfield and St. Johnsbury. The waiting list in Burlington is so high (over 80 people) we are considering adding another workshop in October. If you are interested in this training, contact:

Autism Workshops Up-date

At our planning meeting last week, we began to narrow down the locations for our training this fall. At this point it looks like the one-day workshop will be offered in the following locations:
Sept. 20, 2006 - Burlington
Sept. 22, 2006 - St. Johnsbury
Sept. 27, 2006 - Rutland
Sept. 29, 2006 - Springfield
We are attempting to add a session on Sept. 15, 2006 in Bennington
The flyer announcing the workshops should be coming out from the State Department as soon as the details for exact locations and fees are determined. Look for the flyer and sign up early. We expect this to be a very exciting day!

Autism Workshops Planned for September 2006

The I-Team, in conjunction with the State Department of Education and the Agency of Human Services, is going to offer a one day workshop that will be an introduction to autism for teachers and other school staff members, families, community service providers and other interested comunity members. The workshops will be offered in four locations around the state on September 20, 22, 27 & 29, 2006. We will let you know where each workshop will be held and on which date as soon as we finalize our plans. We should have the final details in the next couple of weeks.
I-Team Members and Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments to Attend Workshop

On Thursday October 20, 2005, members of the I-Team and State consultants/teachers of students with visual impairments will attend a workshop on Cortical Visual Impairment designed especialy for us. The workshop titled "Honing Our Skills Together" is being offered by the Cortical Visual Impairment Mentorship Project. The Vermont Mentorship team includes Susan Edelman, Coordinator, Kerry Clifford, Marie MacLeod and Tami Trowell.
This workshop represents one of the many activities we are involved in to help us learn more about CVI so we can better serve you and our children and youth who have cortical visual impairments.

Matching AAC Supports to Students – Thursday, November 17th
See the range of tools from no-tech to high-tech that are available as part of an augmentative communication system. Identify the personal skills that are important for communication and look at specific tools that might be a good match for your student(s).
Topic Boards and Communication Books - Thursday, December 8th
We will discuss the difference between topic boards and communication books and how to determine which is best for your student. Learn how to select appropriate vocabulary, individualize pages and arrange content into a useable format. See a wide range of examples and get ideas for creative uses of these tools.
How to Create and Use Visual Supports - Thursday, January 19th
See how schedules, mini-schedules, and self-management tools can help your students work independently and successfully. See a wide range of examples and get ideas for creative uses of these tools.
BoardMaker Make-It Take It – Thursday, March 30th
You will have access to BoardMaker software and individualized instruction in specific BoardMaker functions. Participants view the range of samples on display for ideas of different supports then create their own personalized versions of these boards and books. The session is completely hands-on and self-paced for a range of skill levels. (Windows version used)
Implementation of AAC Supports – Thursday, May 18th
Learn how to structure the student’s environment to increase communication success by identifying appropriate intervention targets, choosing appropriate contexts, and defining partner’s roles.
