Welcome to your my blog!

My name is Tim Fox and I work as a Research Associate at the Center for Disablity and Community Inclusion at the University of Vermont. I have an M.Ed. in Education with an emphasis on educating students with intensive special education needs. I have been in special education for over 30 years and at the University of Vermont for the past 23 years.

I am currently full time on the Vermont State I-Team. Half time as the Coordinator of the I-Team and the other half of my time as an Educational Consultant in the Northwest Region of the state. As a part of my I-Team duties, I also coordinate the Intensive Special Education (ISE) Endorsement Program through the Vermont Higher Education Collaborative. Prior to this I spent five years working half time as the Technical Assistance and Training Coordinator of the Vermont Character Education Partnership Grant from the U. S. Department of Education.

I truely have had the best of both worlds! Part of my time spent supporting general educators to implement the Supportive Classroom curriculum and part of my time spent supporting special educators to educate our most disabled children and youth in general education settings.

I am available to work with schools on a variety of issues related to special education for students with severe disabilities, inclusion of all students in general education settings, the Supportive Classroom curriculum, positive behavioral supports for students with challenging behavior, systems change issues, or collaborative teaming. If you would like more information e-mail me at:

timothy.fox@uvm.edu.

Thanks for visiting, Tim

I was born and raised in Richmond, California. I was a Richmond Oiler before Coach Carter (the movie). Actually, Richmond Union High School was torn down the year I graduated because it was not earthquake proof, so the school you see in the movie is not the school I attended.

I attended the California State University at Chico for my undergraduate degree and moved to Vermont in 1976 to attend the University of Vermont for my Masters degree in Intensive Special Education.

I met my wife Marcy in 1978 and we were married in 1979 while I was attending graduate school at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. We have two children, Ryan and Bethany. Ryan attends CVU High School and Bethany is at the University of Vermont.

Ryan and I have earned our 3rd degree black belts in Shaolin Kempo Karate from the Villari's Self Defence Studio in S. Burlington, VT under the direction of Master Laurie Shover. We started when he was 5 years old and have never looked back!

My other interests include working on my house (really a necessity more than a hobby), all things Mac (computer), hiking, camping and traveling (we took a road trip our west this past summer which was great!!).
